Program Description

Our training focuses on these thematic areas:

1.  Activism:We have developed an intentional process that empowers aspiring leaders on practical steps to understanding community challenges and how to initiate conversations around them. This program will help new leaders to understand what true activism is, why others failed and some succeeded and step by step processes of building movements. Young leaders will develop their leadership capacity and understand how to creatively set impact the community, build partnerships and to broaden their confidence and experience in solving community problems.
2. Engagement:This area helps the participants to understand issues on how to engage the government, different institutions and stakeholders in solving community problems. It outlines strategies for building bridges between the government and the community. The participants will also learn how to build institutions and ensure engagements are sustainable.
3. Political Participation:political participation class is designed for those who are currently serving in political and public leadership positions as well as those who want to run for office. The program cuts across Creative Leadership, Political Leadership, Campaign Management and Media Power in politics.We challenge participants to take a bold step towards leading change and bringing transformation to the community. It is designed to help leaders advance further, faster as well as boost their leadership result within the community. It prepares young and emerging leaders for greater responsibility in the community. You will enhance your knowledge and awareness of creative and transformational leadership competencies and identify strategies for community impact.
4. Career Training: Part of our training curriculum is to help our students achieve growth in their personal endeavors. We have crafted our trainings to include mentorship for students in different fields. For our career-oriented students, they are offered mentorship and training in skills that gives them an edge in the job market while also availing them with suitable employment and internship opportunities that matches their career field.
5. Entrepreneurship Training: Our students who are into entrepreneurship are also trained and mentored with skills for running and managing sustainable businesses. We also explore opportunities that can help them grow and expand their business.

Program Schedule
All trainings are virtual and happen every month.

Objectives

1. Assess and identify leadership challenges and opportunities in Nigeria and develop a strategy for effective leadership within the community.
2. Develop a creative and transformational leadership plan and strategy.
3. Identify and overcoming barriers for breaking into main stream politics and public leadership opportunities.
4. Develop skills in political leadership, campaign management and community mobilization.
5. Provide participants with foundational knowledge and skills for political leadership.

Program Components
The Power Shift Public and Political Leadership training program is strategically designed around three program components; assessment, experiential learning and individual development.

• Assessments – Participants take assessment that gives them a better understanding of transformational leadership. Using this knowledge, participants create leadership strategies to bring change within the community.
• Experiential Learning – Participants engage in activities that challenge them to ask questions, explore the world around them, and develop skills.
• Individual Development – Participants are asked to create a community leadership development plan and are taught the importance of effective leadership management.

Program Requirements
In order to complete the program, participants are required to attend online classes of training and complete bridge assignments in all the sessions.

Eligibility Criteria to be Selected

1. Applicants must be aged 18 and above.
2. Applicants must be a resident/citizen of Nigeria.
3. Applicants must be willing to demonstrate or develop a high level of interest in politics leadership and community service.
4. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to learning and sharing their knowledge and skills with others.
5. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to implementing practicum/follow-up events and actively engage in networking and the Power Shift Movement.
6. Applicants must have the ability to communicate clearly and be proficient in reading and writing English.

This program is for you if you are eager to learn the foundational skills to enhance your public and political leadership capabilities, develop skills to achieve success before, during and after elections, want to grow in your political career but need guidance on what steps are required to make it happen and need assistance in creating your personal brand.

Next Steps
Participants in the program are nominated based on their leadership potential, or they apply directly based on their personal development objectives. Participants can expect to work on individual and team activities outside the training sessions, sometimes meeting weekly with team members.

Customized Training

We also provide customized training for government agencies, corporate bodies, schools, and associations.

We train staff of companies, government agencies, and different corporate bodies who require improvement in work ethics and workplace cohesion among their staff in their offices.

We also provide training for schools and student leaders to help them grow into leadership and provide guidance to help them maneuver technical difficulties faced by young people new to leadership.

Governance Training
Importantly, our role in empowering leaders goes beyond election day. We continue to support elected and appointed officials by offering governance training to give progressive leaders the skills to govern effectively and effect progressive change.
